For AldoPics, I customized a child theme to retain the site's original photography-focused design while improving performance and SEO. Using clean HTML, CSS, and lightweight jQuery, I optimized page structure and implemented minimization techniques to ensure faster load times without losing visual impact andd achieve better UI/UX.

To support SEO and content management, I developed a custom C# tool that works alongside my Semrush subscription—automating scans for broken links, redirects, and keyword presence to keep the site healthy and search-friendly.

A second round of improvements is planned for Q4, including a Vue.js-based homepage refresh, further minimisation, along with and a more impactful landing page hero section, aimed at increasing engagement and delivering stronger CRO which will be improved along side Hotjar.

MaltishLanguage.com — A Satirical Dictionary of Maltese English

Custom Website Design & PHP Development with File and MySQL Storage Data served via PHP APIs

MaltishLanguage.com is a unique online dictionary project that playfully documents and satirizes how English is often (mis)used in Malta. It captures real phrases spoken by locals who believe they’re using correct English — but whose expressions can be hilariously off the mark.

Take the classic: “I want to cut the road!” — a phrase that makes perfect sense in Maltish English but turns heads everywhere else.

Originally soft-launched in 2020 as a Proof of Concept, MaltishLanguage.com quickly attracted an enthusiastic following and evolved into a fully-fledged live site.

A few real Maltish gems from the site:

Built as a custom PHP website, MaltishLanguage.com uses:

  • Custom Design & Development: Tailored PHP backend with file and MySQL storage.

  • Data Delivery: All dictionary data is read via PHP APIs for flexibility and performance.

  • User Contributions: Visitors can submit phrases, add context images, and interact with content — anonymously or via login.

  • Personalization: PHP sessions and cookies let users set how “rude” or absurd they want their dictionary experience to be.

  • Social Sharing: Integrated Facebook and LinkedIn sharing to spread the Maltish spirit far and wide.

What’s Next
Following growing popularity and real user insights, the next phase will migrate the site to WordPress to simplify content management and introduce new interactive features — inspired directly by community feedback and real user stories.

A multi-themed website featuring four distinct visual themes inspired by key symbols from the Harry Potter story. On each visit, a theme is randomly loaded, and users can easily switch between themes while browsing.

The site is built entirely with custom PHP, with JavaScript and jQuery used to handle the interactive theme switching and smooth transitions — all without needing a database.

All visual design, front-end styling, and back-end scripting were created from scratch. I handle all updates, enhancements, and ongoing maintenance to ensure the site stays secure, fast, and user-friendly.

This project demonstrates my ability to combine creative web design with practical PHP development and front-end scripting for dynamic, engaging user experience
